YUVRAJ SINGH comes face to face with Stuart Broad again today as a cancer survivor and inspiration to a nation.
It is five years and four days since Indian superstar Yuvraj whacked Broad for six sixes in an over in the inaugural World Twenty20 in 2007.
Since then, Yuvraj, 30, has won a life-threatening battle against lung cancer.
His tumour was discovered in 2011 and he required three bouts of chemotherapy and several trips to America for treatment.
It was only in April that he was able to go home with the illness in remission.
The powerful left-hander returned to international action this month. And he made 18 and took three wickets in India?s opening match win here against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Yuvraj said: ?Before cancer, life was happy-go-lucky, thinking about how to score runs, take wickets and win matches.
?Suddenly, when you are diagnosed with cancer, you are thinking only about saving your life. ?It has been tough but I?ve always been a very positive person.
?I feel proud of myself and thankful to my family and friends and the people of India who prayed for me.
?It?s very exciting to be playing again. I feel like a child getting his first Christmas gift.?
Yuvraj?s demolition job on Broad was only the fourth time in senior cricket that a batsman has hit six sixes in an over ? and the first between Test teams.
Broad said: ?It was horrible to see Yuvraj have an illness like that and it is amazing to see him come back.?
With both sides already through to the Super Eights phase, today?s Group A match has little riding on it.
But England skipper Broad said: ?It will not change our approach to the game ? any game against India is huge.?
