I know you may think I am premature in saying this, but crockpot season is here. At least for me, it?s here anyway. My crockpot doesn?t get too much use in the summer months. I have an aversion to pretty much anything that is not barbecued in the summer. Even though summer isn?t quite over yet, I have crockpotitis.
This has come upon me rather quickly and there are a few things that have set this into high gear. You see, now that summer is over school is back in session and along with school comes school sports. So not only do I have work I also have three boys in sports. Two of my boys are in football and because of their age difference, they are not on the same team. So we have practice for three consecutive hours five nights a week. The one boy who doesn?t play football has soccer practice three nights a week.
Between work and sports there is little time to spend making dinner. So, the crockpot does most of the work for me. All I have to do is be prepared enough to throw some things in the crockpot in the morning before work, and like magic dinner is ready when we get home after practice at night. I have even started freezing crockpot meals in freezer bags, so all I have to do is dump the contents of the bag into the crockpot and set it.
You can find crockpot recipes all over the Internet. I was surprised to learn that you can cook pretty much anything in a crockpot. I?ve made breads, desserts, soups, roasts and drinks. You can find a crockpot recipe for just about anything. There is a website I?ve found that has five different crockpot recipes that you can put in freezer bags first. It even gives you a grocery list too. I have tried all five of these recipes and they are delicious. So, if you?re as busy as I am, save yourself a little stress and time and dust off that crockpot and fire it up.
