Neptune/Venus conjunction,Tantra Ocean of Bliss ritual, Astrology ...

its been a wild spiritually flooding week.

with a few twists and turns

Thursday Feb 28

VENUS?and NEPTUNE?join in a TANTRIC ?DANCE in PISCES

yes Venus conjuncts Neptune every 1.5 years or so

but in PISCES only once every 160 years or so

so very rare auspicious?-VENUS is human love, women, values, the arts, luxury, beauty, relationships

NEPTUNE?is DIVINE LOVE, love of God/Jesus/Allah/Krishna/Buddha/Goddess/shekinah/Mary/the Great Mystery

this soul mate conjunction brings the human and the divine together

where they/we/ the Universe./ all that is dissolves into an OCEAN of BLISS

Bliss is also a subject of the 12th house

so if you have a relationship I?d suggest that you get ready to expeirence tantric union today

the aspect happens @ 5:37 am PST/8:37 am EST

TANTRA BLISS RITUAL

all spiritual people awake at 3:30 or 4:00 am it has something to do with the way the Sun?s light hits the earth

TANTRIC love making?doesnt have to involve actual sexual contact, it can,

it is about preparing yourself to meet the DIVINE as a DIVINE being, bathe first,

preparing to meet the BELOVED through your partner, someone you trust,

the meeting place must be clean, clear, sweet smelling

rose water, fine incense, and the like, everything to make the atmosphere sensual and calm

the two should be meeting with an feeling of reverence respect and devotion

the kissing and caressing needs to be done with a conscious awe of the miracle of being alive,

of being a spiritual being, a soul in a human form with consciousness and self awareness,

it is an act of replicating the divine interplay of YIN YANG/yab/yum/ masculine/feminine

tantric sexuality Tara Greene

every act is holy, every act of love is workshipping the DIVINE Mother goddess

the pointis to surrender to each other, but go beyond the physical sensations,

itis about equilibrium and controlling the senses, men especially must never ejaculate,

the control of the ojas, leads to spiritual awakening, if you master this

you will feel waves of ecstacy?for both men and women and you can ride the KUNDALINI energy for hours

you will merge into your BELOVED< the little death of orgasm is a long fall into dissolving your ego and shattering

the illusion of separation, this is what the pATRIARCHY has condemned, and made sinfull

your knowledge of partaking of the DIVINE through your own body and through the body of another person

if you are ALONE

you can prepare yourself as you would for a super special date,

get dressed in finery, and make yourself feel beautiful

you can sit in a sacred circle, and begin to breathe and be aware of your breath,

open each chakra through imagining each one as red flower opening, red is root,

orange is sex, 3rd is yellow just below the navel, 4th is green the heart, 5th is hroat indigo,

6th is 3rd eye and violet, 7th is crown chakra white, 8th is about a foot above your body its gold,

the 9th chakra is the UNiverse itself, send you desire out to connect with the force of the ONE

you can bring into your imagination a strong image of the Divine lover as a? God/Goddess

you can imagine yourself making love with them but with an attitude of respect, no ego,

feel, smell, make it as real as possible, PISCES rules fantasy, so this will be easily accomplished.

feel yourself becoming one with the imageof the beloved,

breathe deeply send your energy dowen?into the firey?core of the erath?andbreathe?the fire into your body and sen di tup your spine

you should feel a shudder up your spine, you can feel heat, the KUNDALINI energy will rise

you can have a full body orgasm if you really surrender to this process.

Stay in bliss for a long as you can, then let yourself trance sleep.

before you sleep/trance call in the Tantric lovers to surround you and protect you.

relax and dream, as if youve? just had th emost powerful release of your life

when you wake, write down what you remember in a sacred place.

(AP) ? Karen Mok wrestles with what's been a life-long question for her on the title of her first English album, "Somewhere I Belong."

The Hong Kong pop diva has a half-Chinese, half-Welsh father and her mother is half-Chinese, one quarter-Iranian and a quarter-German. It's easy to see why Mok cannot pinpoint one ethnic identity.

So where exactly does she feel like she belongs? Mok explains it's not a geographic location, but rather her home is on stage, wherever she performs.

"It's about what I do, when I feel comfortable, that's when I'm doing what I love most, that's singing, that's when I'm performing on stage, and just singing my heart out, sharing my emotions," she said. "So that's where I belong."

After 16 successful Mandarin/Cantonese albums, Mok is venturing into English lyrics and a mix of music styles.

The album is her first attempt to cross from pop to jazz. She sings classic jazz tunes, as well as reinterpretations of Chinese and Western pop songs.

Insisting on a jazz album with an Asian sound, Mok made the album in China with Asian musicians and added a traditional Chinese instrument, the gu zeng string instrument, to the background of some tracks.

The 42-year-old songstress has been on the Asian entertainment scene for more than 20 years. She's starred in over 40 feature films and is the first Asian female artist to star in a Broadway show, when she was cast as Mimi in the 10th anniversary Asian tour of "Rent."

Mok is currently promoting "Somewhere I Belong" in Asia.

Later this year, she will appear in Keanu Reeves's directorial debut, "Man of Tai Chi."

Break-in at shop featured on TV's 'American Guns'

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (AP) ? Police in suburban Denver are investigating a break-in at the gun shop featured on Discovery Channel's "American Guns."

Wheat Ridge police were notified of a silent alarm at the Gunsmoke Gun Shop just before 4:15 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they found that the shop had been entered through a hole in the roof.

Police say a witness across the street reported seeing a silver two-door car leaving the gun shop's parking lot, shortly after the silent alarm was received.

Police say it appears more than one person may have been involved in the burglary. Investigators had no suspect descriptions Wednesday afternoon, and an inventory of stolen property was not yet complete.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives is assisting local investigators.

West Vancouver gives ultimatum to boil-water community

The District of West Vancouver has given an ultimatum to the unincorporated cliffside community of Montizambert Wynd: Comply with the province?s water standards or we?re cutting you off.

For more than 17 years, the remote Howe Sound cul-de-sac has been under one of B.C.?s longest standing boil-water advisories.

Residents there, like their West Van neighbours, have pulled water from the nearby Montizambert Creek since the 1940s.

But while West Van?s drinking water is drawn from the creek and purified in a provincially regulated treatment facility, the Montizambert Wynd water comes directly off West Van?s raw-water pipe and is treated in-home with private point-of-entry systems.

Residents have long maintained that these personal water purifiers are reliable and safe, and there have been no recorded incidents suggesting otherwise.

But with no provincial oversight or quality assurance from either Metro Vancouver or Vancouver Coastal Health, it?s recently come to the West Van government?s attention that the District could be held legally responsible as Montizambert?s water supplier if something were to go wrong.

At the request of Montizambert residents, West Van District has in the past explored the possibility of either absorbing the 13-home community into West Vancouver or selling the residents access to its water supply. In November, the District determined that neither option would be appropriate and on Monday gave Montizambert residents six months to find a solution to their water woes with Metro Vancouver or else their connection to West Van?s raw-water pipe would be severed.

Montizambert residents at Monday?s meeting pleaded for an extension of council?s decision on the severance for another month, but council declined, saying six months should prove ample time to find a resolution.

?The residents of West Vancouver have effectively already paid thousands and thousands of dollars in staff time and legal fees on this issue and will continue to do so if we spend the next six months negotiating with you,? Coun. Nora Gambioli said.

All who spoke on it agreed, with council passing the motion unanimously and Mayor Michael Smith suggesting he was confident that, at the end of six months, Montizambert residents wouldn?t be left high and dry.

?We?re still in no way closing the door on the residents out there,? Smith said. ?We like to be good neighbours and if we can find a resolution that works for everybody through Metro Vancouver finally getting involved, then council can at a later point in time rescind this motion ? if there is a resolution in place.?

HELCO lineman line up for rodeo (Feb. 23) | Hawaii 24/7 ...

MEDIA RELEASE

The county announces Makaeo Beach Park will host the first Hawaii Lineman?s Rodeo, which is a free event to be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Kailua-Kona facility.

A friendly competition among more than 40 mainland and local teams of electric utility professionals and contractors, the rodeo highlights safety, skill and education in overhead electric work.

The Hawaiian Electric Companies, which includes Hawaii Electric Light Co., and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1260 are sponsoring the drug- and alcohol-free Hawaii Lineman?s Rodeo.

The event will support Toys For Tots and the Hawaii Food Basket, with a donated canned item, new toy or small donation per child earning unlimited rides in the event?s Kids Zone.

HELCO will hire contractors to install fencing and prepare a surface of sand and wood chips to create a competition arena located away from park amenities. Next, they will erect 75 utility poles for the estimated 125 competitors to use.

?Working with the County of Hawaii Parks Department, HELCO plans to leave the park in better shape than we found it, with improvements to be enjoyed by future park users,? company President Jay Ignacio said.

Once the competition has ended, the poles will be donated to the Department of Parks and Recreation for use in enhancing Maka?eo Beach Park.

?This is a win-win-win situation,? Deputy Parks Director Bob Fitzgerald said. ?We?re bringing in a whole bunch of visitors to Hawaii Island, providing free public entertainment and recreation, and improving Makaeo at little cost to the taxpayers.?

Parks officials consulted with cultural descendants of the area, canoe clubs that use Makaeo and other community stakeholders before approving the competition and related park improvements.

Holes drilled for the poles will not impact any cultural resources, while the park will remain open during the Feb. 23 event.

Possible Washington state connection in shooting and multi-vehicle crash in Las Vegas Thursday | Breaking News

By KATHERINE SMITH
Covington Reporter Reporter
February 22, 2013 ? Updated 9:38 PM?

Sandi Sutton, a resident of Maple Valley, was identified by the Clark County Coroner's office in Las Vegas as one of the victims of the shooting and subsequent car crash which happened in the early morning hours of Feb. 21 on Las Vegas Boulevard, the city's center of gaming known as The Strip.

Sutton was a passenger in a taxi cab that was struck by a Maserati at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard. According to Officer Jose Hernandez in the public information office of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the taxi exploded and caught fire, trapping Sutton and the driver. Both Sutton and the driver died at the scene.

"This morning occupants of a black Range Rover opened fire on the occupants of a Maserati," LVMPD Sheriff Douglas Gillespie said at a news conference on Thursday. "The Maserati driver, having been shot, sped through the intersection of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard, colliding with a taxi cab and causing a six car accident. The driver and passenger of the taxi both died on the scene when the car exploded due to the impact."

Police believe that the altercation between the drivers of the Range Rover and Maserati began in the valet area of a nearby resort, the Aria Hotel and Casino, after which both vehicles began traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard. After colliding with the taxi, the Maserati also struck four other vehicles, Hernandez said in a phone interview on Friday. The driver and passenger of the Maserati both suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital where the driver, Kenneth Cherry Jr., died of his injuries. Three people from the other vehicles in the crash were also transported to the hospital.

Sutton grew up in Maple Valley and graduated from Tahoma High School in 1982. She is survived by her husband, James Wasmund, and their three children, Austin, Sarah, and Hunter.

Sutton was also a local business owner, and an active member of the Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce and the Maple Valley Rotary. Together she and her husband owned All Service Plumbing and she was also co-owner of The Dazzled Dame with Leih Mulvihill. The store had recently moved to a new location in Maple Valley Town Center about a month ago. Sutton and Mulvihill were in Las Vegas together, attending a business convention.

"I honestly can't remember what year we met," said longtime friend Tina McDonough. "The thing that drew me to her was that I'm highly involved in Susan G. Komen and she (Sutton) was a two time survivor. We've always been on the same team to find a cure."

Sutton had participated in Race for the Cure 5k with the local team Touched by Jeanie. Last year Sutton also participated in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk for a Cure with Valley Girls and Guys, a team McDonough founded.

"2012 was her first time walking the 3-Day with us and she immediately signed up for this year," McDonough said. "We've done a lot of stuff together?just a big heart, big smile. (She was) really well known and well liked in the community. Just an amazing person and friend. She's left a hole in this community and our hearts. She's going to be forever missed."

Lady Gaga says she's had hip surgery

NEW YORK (AP) ? Lady Gaga says she's had surgery to fix her hip.

The 26-year-old singer posted on her blog late Wednesday that she had hip surgery and it "happened so fast." She canceled her "Born This Way Ball" tour last week.

She thanked her fans in the post, saying they gave her "a lot of strength." Lady Gaga said that as she was wheeled to surgery, she reflected on her fans. She wrote: "Sometimes you are so brave that it terrifies me. I wonder how it's even possible."

Lady Gaga canceled more than 20 dates on the remainder of her tour, which began last April. She originally postponed four dates last week after experiencing difficulties during her concert in Montreal. She explained to fans on Twitter that she'd hurt herself while performing some time ago.

NBCU's Lauren Zalaznick Makes First Hire in New Role (Exclusive)

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Lauren Zalaznick has made her first major hire in her new role driving innovation at NBCU, bringing in A&E distribution executive Lori Conkling to be a senior strategist in charge of digital monetization, TheWrap has learned.

"Lori is a key hire for the company's newly dedicated effort to drive growth through monetization of our innovative content across all platforms in new and transformative ways," Zalaznick said in a statement obtained by TheWrap.

Conkling has been tasked with developing what NBCU is calling "an actionable business strategy for NBCU's new and existing digital businesses, with a particular focus on mobile."

Zalaznick has declined to speak to TheWrap on the topic. NBCU was expected to announce the hire officially this week.

Some industry insiders have speculated that Zalaznick's new role is merely a polite placeholder in the wake of NBCU giving many of her former responsibilities running Bravo and Oxygen to Bonnie Hammer, who is now at the top of the network's powerful, lucrative cable properties.

The Conkling hire suggests that Zalaznick is serious about her new, senior and somewhat amorphous executive position at NBCU: EVP NBCUniversal and the company's mandate to figure out how to make money from all those stray eyeballs in the digital space and outside traditional television windows. The area of digital change is one that Zalaznick delved into in her previous role; among the conundrums facing NBCU and all major television networks is the fact that millions of viewers watch their shows in a time frame and on formats not supported by advertising.

Zalaznick was moved to the newly-created position in a shakeup at the top of NBCU earlier this month to - as CEO Steve Burke put it - focus on "innovation, digital, monetization and emerging technology across the company."

Individuals close to Zalaznick insist that the executive is excited by the challenge of her new role and was, in one insider's words, "a little bit bored" in her previous responsibilities. She has been at NBCU since 2004.

Shows at NBCU, for example, are paid within a three-day viewing window, while audience metrics measure significant viewership within a seven-day window. Furthermore, networks have huge engagement over mobile but like most companies, have not yet figured out a way to mine real revenue from this audience.

A knowledgeable executive told TheWrap that other hires would follow, but that Conkling would be the most senior, and from outside. At AEN, Conkling oversaw distribution strategy across multiple platforms for the company's 10 networks, including A&E, History, Lifetime Television and LMN, which she grew to 85 million U.S. subscribers. She also directly oversaw field sales and national accounts in the U.S. and Canada.

Samsung's WiFionly Galaxy passes governmental inspection, bids farewell to SIM cards

Two days is a long time in tech. One day, a company's announcing a new iteration of its hybrid Android camera, next thing you know, it's already passing the FCC's tests. You probably know the drill by now and with even less radios than the original Galaxy Camera, there's less paperwork to browse this round. But if exposure reports are your sort of thing, then you should probably visit the source -- there's reading to be done. Two things not mentioned, however, is that darn release date and price tag.

Ecuador's Correa plans no sweeping reforms, wants investment

QUITO (Reuters) - Beaming after his re-election last weekend, Ecuador's President Rafael Correa said on Thursday he is not planning sweeping reforms and instead hopes to attract investors and diversify the economy from its dependence on oil exports.

Since taking office in 2007, the U.S.-trained economist defaulted on $3.2 billion of debt, rewrote contracts with oil companies to squeeze more revenue from them, and pushed through a new constitution that gave him more power.

"Everything has been done and there will not be any more big changes. There will not be tax reforms either. That was a mess and it has been improved quite a lot," Correa told Reuters in an interview.

"The rules of the game are clear and now we hope that investors will continue coming."

The 49-year-old president said the ruling party would push ahead with a mining reform in Congress that would let the government sign a contract with Canada's Kinross for a large gold project. He said the deal would be finalized in August.

Correa also said that even though Ecuador was struggling to obtain financing, the $12.5 billion Pacifico refinery would be operating within schedule in 2016.

He said China, Qatar and South Korea are interested in financing the project.

Correa also said that in the future he could consider issuing debt for the first time since the 2008 debt default.

Crysis 3 Mods? - Video Games Blogger

Will there be Crysis 3 Mods? We took to developer Crytek?s official forums to find out as they answered fan?s questions!

With Crysis 3 becoming available from February 19th, 2013 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, the big standout for PC gamers ? aside from better graphics ? is the possibility of having Crysis 3 Mods! It would be especially welcome for the potential of added multiplayer mayhem, since Crysis 3 Multiplayer supports up to 16 players on PC! (Only 12 players on consoles)

Crysis 3?s multiplayer mode with its variety of team-based modes is referred to as ?C3MP?. The multiplayer design part of the game is separately in development at Crytek UK ? formerly known as the TimeSplitters studio Free Radical Design.

When asked if there will be official Mod support for Crysis 3 the lead programmer of C3MP, Richard Semmens, answered:

?There is no official announcement about mod support at this time.?

No explanation was given when Mod support would become available, or even ?if ever?, but the logical explanation as to why some of the multiplayer features (like Spectator Mode) had to be limited was ?due to time constraints we ended up having to drop it, which was a great shame.?

These various suggested C3MP modes did not make it into the final game. Omitted modes include: Spectator Mode, Theater Mode, Co-op Mode, Power Struggle Mode, nor a Skill-matching System. Although a surprise new mode was promised as DLC after release, which is great news because it means C3MP development is not over yet.

Here?s the Crysis 3 Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer that shows what?s available at launch:

Foster critiques NBA All-Star defense

February, 18, 2013

Feb 18

12:48

PM ET

If you're going to bash the NFL Pro Bowl for a lack of defense, then Arian Foster thinks it's only fair to do the same to the NBA.

Foster shot off a couple tweets of note Sunday evening while the NBA All-Star Game was being played in Houston.

Both fair points.

Fact is, the era of compelling all-star games is long past. Baseball's was the one with the best chance of maintaining the sort of nostalgia we used to connect to most of these gatherings of a league's top talent. Interleague play killed that. Because we see American League and National League players square off in regular-season play, there is no special quality or meaning to them matching up midseason.

Even if it determines home-field advantage for the World Series.

It's time to come to terms with the fact that none of these all-star games will ever have the allure they once did.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? President Barack Obama's chief of staff says the White House hasn't proposed "anything to Capitol Hill yet" on immigration even as a leading Republican criticizes a reported draft proposal regarding illegal immigrants.

That draft, according to USA Today, would create a visa for the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States and allow them to become legal permanent residents within eight years.

Obama aide Denis McDonough tells ABC's "This Week" that the White House is working with a bipartisan group of senators.

GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida says if such a measure was proposed, it would be "dead on arrival" in Congress.

McDonough says "let's make sure that it doesn't have to be proposed" because the White House and Congress are able to work out a deal.

One of the biggest roadblocks to Android app development is just coming to grips with the tool set: asking developers weaned on Visual Studio to drop it for the likes of Eclipse is tossing them in the deep end of the pool. NVIDIA is offering a slightly gentler swimming lesson through the launch of Nsight Tegra 1.1 Visual Studio Edition. The kit brings the needed framework for native Android apps into Visual Studio 2010 so that programmers can work with the debugging and other features they've come to know. Although Nsight Tegra isn't the same as building in Google's preferred environment, it's also free for registered Tegra developers -- no doubt in the hopes that there will be more apps built around NVIDIA's chips.

MPs say horsemeat discoveries "tip of the iceberg"

LONDON (Reuters) - Discoveries so far of horsemeat in products sold as beef are likely to be the "tip of the iceberg", a parliamentary report into the scandal said on Thursday.

"The scale of contamination emerging in the meat supply chain is breathtaking," said Anne McIntosh, a legislator who chairs the cross-party Food and Rural Affairs Committee, which published the report. "More revelations will doubtless come to light in the UK and across the European Union."

Growing revelations about the use of horsemeat in products labelled beef have raised questions about the safety of the European food supply chain and prompted governments to send out a European Union (EU)-wide alert.

The EU's health chief said on Wednesday all companies that have handled falsely-labelled horsemeat were under suspicion, adding that the European Commission was considering strengthening EU rules on product labelling.

The British parliamentary report concluded there were strong signs horsemeat had been intentionally substituted for beef.

"British consumers have been cynically and systematically duped in pursuit of profit by elements within the food industry," it said.

The issue first came to light on January 15 when routine tests by Irish authorities discovered horsemeat in beef burgers made by firms in Ireland and Britain and sold in supermarket chains including Tesco, Britain's biggest retailer.

Concern grew last week when the British unit of frozen foods group Findus began recalling its beef lasagne on advice from its French supplier, Comigel, after tests showed concentrations of horsemeat ranging from 60 to 100 percent.

UNABLE TO RESPOND

"While this is primarily a food labelling issue, the suggestion of fraud on a massive scale, suggests that measures must be put in place now to prevent any further contaminated meat entering the food chain," the report said.

It said Tesco and other major retailers had let consumers down by selling contaminated products, while regulator the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the government had been caught flat-footed by the scandal and unable to respond effectively.

The report said the British government needed to find the right balance between affordable food prices and regulations that ensure transparency and quality.

It recommended the FSA be given statutory powers to require producers to undertake testing and wants the agency to undertake a broader spectrum of testing for products found to have the highest levels of contamination, to provide assurances they do not contain other non-bovine DNA or substances that could be harmful to human health.

It said all results must be reported to the FSA, whether mandated by the Agency or carried out independently.

"The consumer cannot be left to face a Catch-22 where they can either pay for food that complies with the highest standards of traceability, labelling and testing, or accept that they cannot trust the provenance and composition of the foods they eat," said McIntosh.

Danica talks dating driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) ? Danica Patrick slid into her chair at NASCAR media day Thursday and promptly informed her audience it would be race questions only.

Yeah, right. The ensuing 20-plus minutes consisted mostly of questions about her relationship with fellow driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Patrick dutifully answered them all. She and Stenhouse better get used to this, at least in the early going.

Patrick and Stenhouse confirmed in January they are dating, and the duo will be competing against each other this year for Sprint Cup rookie of the year.

"Initially, it was a little bit of a mental hurdle of like, 'We compete against each other,' " Patrick said of the relationship, which she likened to Romeo and Juliet. "It's like the Capulets and Montagues with (me in) Chevy and (him in) Ford, this just doesn't work. But you can't tell your heart who to like or not like. And so in the end, it ended up being something that I just didn't think was a big deal at all."

The two spent the last two seasons racing in the Nationwide Series and Patrick leaned on Stenhouse, the two-time Nationwide champion, for friendship and advice after her move to NASCAR. She said the relationship grew deeper, and they went public after she filed for divorce in early January from her husband, Paul Hospenthal. She and Hospenthal announced in November they were splitting up after seven years of marriage.

The 30-year-old Patrick rarely talked about her personal life while married to Hospenthal, but she was open Thursday about the 25-year-old Stenhouse.

"I'm just relaxed," Patrick said. "I feel happy. I feel like I am enjoying my life. It makes me smile to talk about him. I feel like I'm on 'The Bachelorette.'"

Stenhouse was equally as open, saying "she's hot!" when asked what attracted him to Patrick before adding "she loves to cook, and I love to eat." He admitted he'd never heard of the Capulets and Montagues, and refused to say who he would push on the last lap of a race at Daytona if Patrick was battling for the win with one of his Roush Fenway Racing teammates.

"I'm going three-wide," he smiled. "There's enough room at Daytona."

Although the two did not publicly interact Thursday, they are clearly content with their relationship. And because Patrick, who leads all celebrities with 12 Super Bowl ads, is used to being under the media spotlight Stenhouse said he can lean on his girlfriend for guidance as he finds himself suddenly scrutinized.

"I'm fine. The headlines don't say anything about me," he said. "I'm taking this seriously. But if I win a race, it might be 'Danica's boyfriend won a race.'"

The relationship is fodder for endless jokes and razzing from fellow competitors, and most were eager to dive into the topic Thursday.

"Pat on the back for him," said Ty Dillon.

"We can come up with plenty of jokes and how humorous it could be on the track and what each of them are thinking ? we'll all be watching with great curiosity, for sure," said Jimmie Johnson.

But if the two have an incident on the track? "That would be one heck of a show," Johnson said. "I'm sure ratings would go up quite a bit. You never know. Danica has shown she can get quite upset at times, so there could be something going on."

Patrick was ready for all the ribbing, and even joked about what would happen if Stenhouse wrecked her on the track.

"He better have a really good, 'I'm sorry,'" Patrick said with a wink.

The duo is moving forward with their relationship, with Patrick saying she planned to cook for Stenhouse on Valentine's Day and she packed an entire suitcase full of gifts for her boyfriend (he got her "fancy playing cards" he said). She also told reporters how after so many months of hanging out with Stenhouse, she had to push him to ask her out on an official date ? an account Stenhouse confirmed before sheepishly admitting he couldn't remember what restaurant they went to for the date.

Defending Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski cautioned that things could get sticky with the happy couple.

"It's difficult because there's that part of you that thinks, 'Ah, this is a little hokie. Can we just focus on the on-track part?'" he said. "But you have to understand that as a race car driver, you make life decisions that put you in a position of danger all the time, 24-7, and that inherently makes you a unique person and the decisions you make in your mental process to get there unique. And whatever outside influences you have are going to affect how you perform.

"So it makes it a story because there's no way for it not to affect their performance. It ties back in. I think it's not really much of a story that their dating as it is as much of a story if they were to break up. That would be incredible to watch, to be quite honest with you. There's so many different ways that could go. I mean, imagine if they were to break up and then wreck each other for like the next six races because they were mad?"

Stenhouse dismissed Keselowski's take, "coming from a guy who has never had a girlfriend?"

Johnson had a recommendation: Patrick and Stenhouse need to keep their relationship from spilling onto the track.

"If it does, it's going to impact their lifestyle and their job," Johnson said. "We're paid to go on the racetrack and race. So if they're handling things differently on the track because of their personal relationship, it's going to affect their jobs; their owners aren't going to be happy or their sponsors."

Tim Cook's Nike Board Seat Will Be A Conflict For ... - Business Insider

Photo by Don Feria/Apple via Getty Images

Tim Cook, wearing a FuelBand

?

Apple reportedly working on a wearable computing device, which we're calling an "iWatch."

If these reports are accurate ? and frankly it would be weird if Apple wasn't at least exploring the idea ? then it's a problem for CEO Tim Cook.

Cook is on the board of Nike which has its own sort of digital watch/wearable computer, the Nike FuelBand. The Nike FuelBand measures your steps, gives you an estimate of calories burned, tells time, and measures Nike's made up "Fuel Points."

The FuelBand is supposed to track your fitness and get you exercising more.

Right now, it's a very rudimentary gadget. In the years to come as the product evolves, it will do much more. Look at the first iPod compared to the iPod Touch today, if you need to get an idea about how a simple product can grow over time.

Now, let's think about what an iWatch could do. Could it have fitness tracking applications? You better believe it. Would anyone need two devices like a FuelBand and an iWatch if one gets the job done? Probably not.

This is where it will get tricky for Cook. Apple's iWatch, which is largely theoretical right now, would probably end up competing with Nike's FuelBand. If Cook is sitting on Nike's board as it's developing the roadmap for the FuelBand, while at the same time Apple is developing an iWatch, then he's getting an inside look at what works and what doesn't for a gadget you wear.

As MG Siegler recently pointed out, it's not too different from Google's CEO Eric Schmidt sitting on Apple's board as it developed the iPad and iPhone. While he was listening to Apple talk about the iPhone, Google was developing Android, which would become the number one threat to Apple's iPhone business.

The FuelBand isn't as important to Nike's business as the iPhone is to Apple's business. But there's no way Cook should be getting information about how to make Apple's wearable computer better than the FuelBand as a board member.

We reached out to Nike for comment, but it just said it's not going to talk about rumors or speculation.

Eurozone recession deepens as Germany falters

The German economy shrank by a larger-than-expected 0.6 percent in the final quarter in 2012, official figures showed Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in a clear sign that the European financial crisis took its toll on the continent's largest economy. The quarterly decline was primarily due to a drop in exports as demand weakened from other European nations, many of which are in recession, the Federal Statistical Office said. (AP Photo/Frank Augstein, File)

(AP) ? It was only a matter of time. With many of its debt-ridden euro partners in recession, Germany could only swim against the tide for so long.

Figures Thursday showed that output in Germany, Europe's largest economy, contracted by more than anticipated in the last three months of 2012. And it was the German drop that lay behind a deepening of the recession across the economy of the 17 European Union countries that use the euro.

Eurostat, the EU's statistics office, said the eurozone's economic output shrank by 0.6 percent in the final quarter of 2012 from the previous three-month period. The decline was bigger than the 0.4 percent drop expected in markets and the steepest fall since 2009, when the global economy was in its deepest recession since World War II.

There are hopes, though, that the fourth quarter of 2012 will mark the low point for the eurozone, and Germany in particular. Many economists are predicting that the eurozone recession may end in the first half of the year.

Nevertheless, Thursday's figures highlight the scale of the problems that have afflicted the single currency zone over the past year. Fears of a break-up, if not a collapse, of the currency dented confidence at a time when many governments were embarked on fairly severe debt-reduction programs.

In 2012 as a whole, the eurozone economy shrank by 0.5 percent, a stark contrast from the 2.2 percent growth recorded in the U.S. and the 1.9 percent in Japan.

"The fourth quarter's bigger-than-expected fall underlined the fact that, while sentiment towards the region has improved, the hard news on the economy remains distinctly weak," said Jonathan Loynes, chief European economist at Capital Economics.

The eurozone has contracted for three straight quarters ? a recession is officially defined as two quarters of negative growth. The eurozone is not alone in finding it increasingly tough as the year progressed but the fourth quarter figures confirm the region is struggling worse than others.

If the quarterly rate is annualized, Capital Economics' Loynes said the eurozone would be contracting by around 2.5 percent, much worse than 0.1 percent drop in the U.S. and Japan's 0.4 percent fall. Eurostat does not provide annualized comparisons.

The worry for European policymakers is that output is declining not just in the weaker, debt-laden economies such as Greece and Spain, where governments have been aggressively increasing taxes and cutting spending in order to get a grip on their public finances and relieve the pressure inflicted on them by skeptical investors.

The standout from the quarterly figures was Germany. Its economy shrank by a quarterly rate of 0.6 percent in the fourth quarter, more than the 0.4 percent expected, as demand for its exports from its European neighbors were dragged down by the underlying economic malaise.

France, Europe's second-biggest economy, also saw output drop by 0.3 percent. Both economies are now one quarter away from recession.

The Eurostat figures showed that seven eurozone countries were in recession at the end of 2012 ? Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Portugal, The Netherlands and Finland. If upcoming figures for Slovenia show it contracted for the third quarter running in the final three months of the year, than that number rises to eight, almost half the eurozone.

ING economist Carsten Brzeski said the German figures were disappointing but that there was "no reason to start singing the blues on the German economy." He noted improving confidence indicators and rising factory orders and industrial production.

"There is increasing evidence that the economy should pick up speed again very quickly," he said.

For the eurozone as a whole there have been some rosier signs of late. In the first few weeks of 2013, some forward-looking business surveys have improved as financial markets have become less concerned about the region's debt woes ? thanks, in part, by the promise last summer by the European Central Bank to help out countries struggling with their borrowing costs.

France, however, remains a greater cause for concern as its economy faces a number of problems that don't trouble Germany as much. The French government has to keep a tight leash on its finances, unemployment is around 10 percent and its exporters are struggling, not least in the auto sector, with both Peugeot-Citroen and Renault struggling.

Though many analysts think France's recent structural reforms will help make the economy more competitive, any tangible gains will not be seen for a while.

"Unfortunately, their positive impact on competitiveness, employment and activity will take time to materialize and will do little to mitigate economic pain in the short term," said Herve Goulletquer, an analyst at Credit Agricole CIB.

Alongside the debt-reduction efforts that governments are pursuing across the eurozone, the region's exporters also have to contend with a currency that has been rallying on foreign exchange markets, potentially making their products less competitive in the international marketplace.

Thursday's downbeat figures offered some respite though, as the euro fell sharply against a broad range of currencies. At one point, the currency was 1 percent lower at $1.3316 and down 1.2 percent at 123.85 yen.

U.S. to lead global response to North Korea threat - Obama

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Tuesday said the United States would strengthen its missile defense and help the world respond to the threat posed by North Korea, which defied the international community by conducting its third nuclear test.

In a State of the Union address that focused mainly on the domestic economy, Obama touched on some of his top foreign policy goals. He said the United States would bring 34,000 U.S. troops home next year as the war in Afghanistan wraps up, and said he wanted to work with Russia to reduce global nuclear stockpiles.

Obama also acknowledged concerns about his administration's counterterrorism strategy and said he would work with Congress to improve transparency of "our targeting, detention and prosecution of terrorists," and ensure it is consistent with U.S. law.

Suicide bomber kills three police in Russian Caucasus

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A suicide bomber killed three policemen and injured another six at a police security checkpoint early on Thursday, Russian investigators said, in the volatile North Caucasus region, where the Kremlin is fighting to staunch an Islamist insurgency.

The suicide bomber detonated explosives in an automobile as police tried to stop the car on its way into the city of Khasavyurt in the province of Dagestan, agencies reported. One person is still unaccounted for.

Rooted in two separatist wars in Chechnya, Islamist insurgents wage daily violence to turn the predominantly Muslim North Caucasus region into an Islamic state. Dagestan has emerged as the epicenter of violence.

"The suicide bomber detonated the explosives when police officers tried to stop the car and check (the person's) documents at a security check point on the way to Khasavyurt," RIA reported a local Interior Ministry statement as saying.

The six injured police had been hospitalized, investigators said.

The Investigative Committee, a criminal investigation arm that answers only to President Vladimir Putin, said the explosion had ripped a four-meter (13-foot) hole in the checkpoint headquarters.

Television showed pictures of police around the security checkpoint, one of many that dots the North Caucasus, where police regularly stop travelers to check identification papers.

Human rights groups say the insurgency, led by self-styled 'Amir' of the North Caucasus Doku Umarov, has been driven by a volatile mix of religion, corruption and grievances against the strong arm tactics of some local leaders against suspected militants and their families.

The suicide bombing follows a police raid on a forest hideout that killed five militants earlier this week in Dagestan.

Wealth Building Is A Team Sport | DINKS Finance

Hi Folks,

Having been around the wealth building game for nearly a decade, I?ve had a chance to learn a few things. ? First, getting financially fit occurs in a few reliable stages. ?Typically you pay off any debts. ?Second you build up a cash nest egg and third, you start to?acquire?assets. ?This happens more or less in a typical progression. ?But what is less obvious is how to accelerate this process. ?Here is a hint, wealth building is a team sport. ?That is, you need to make friends and work with good?advisers?to maximize your wealth accumulation.

1) Acquiring assets happens through relationships. ?This can be real estate, business interests, private stock placements, gold bullion, etc. ?You will need help to get these assets. ? The process of getting your hands on assets worth having is?ultimately?going to involve forming relationships with persons who have these goods to sell or who can help you buy them. ?For example, you may want to recruit a good real estate agent or you might need a friendly mortgage broker, or you might want to strike up a relationship with a small business broker who can help turn you onto deals.

2) Second, in order to really juice your wealth, you?ll need someone to help you run a business. ?This seems a bit controversial, but if you look at wealth in America, you?ll immediately see that only a very small number of fortunes have been made exclusively through saving and investing. ?Most ? from the small ones to the really large ones ? have been developed by starting or running a ?successful?businesses. ?In the event that you choose to do this, you?ll need to ultimately find someone to help you manage, promote, or work in your enterprise. ?The reason for this it that there are only so many hours in the day and you?ll eventually run into limits on your own knowledge and ability to exert effort. ?This problem will become even more acute as your business grows.

3) As you get richer, you?ll need help to account for everything.? The more wealth you have, the more you?ll need someone to help you deal with all of it. ?For example, the more income you have the more you will need someone to help you with ?income taxes or assist you in planning to acquire good quality assets.? This is important in that the quality of the advice you get (especially around taxes) can add or detract significantly from your bottom line. ?For example, my wife and I had a Federal income tax bill around $50,000 in 2011. ?Had we been more pro-active with our taxes, we could have reduced a good chunk of it.

Players you may need on your team include:

Tax accountant ? As your wealth gets more complicated record keeping and?accounting?becomes more important in determining return. ? To illustrate again from our own personal experience. ?My wife and I own rental real estate in the District of Colombia. ?Part of the benefits of owning rental property is the ability to take a deduction on the expenses incurred in running the property. ?However, this deduction can get phased out on your Federal return if your income exceeds a certain threshold, thus reducing the real return on your investment. ?So, the bottom line is that we needed help with our record keeping in order to make the best financial decision.

Real estate agent ? Find someone who understands your needs, helps guide you to find the right place, doesn?t pressure you into something that doesn?t suit your needs, and negotiates on your behalf. ?We have a go to agent that we?ve worked with for more than a dozen years and can put together an offer effectively on short notice.

Mortgage lenders ? Clearly interest rates have a significant impact on your long term expenses and wealth building, plus having someone who is responsive saves you hassle and stress during the home buying process. ?Make sure to evaluate several lenders to compare rates and terms.

Contractors & Service Providers?- Having someone who is reliable and worth their value is a must for home repairs or renovations. ?We?ve had our contractor for more than ten years and the relationship has paid off significantly over the years. ?We also have a variety of service providers that we have available when needed.

Regardless of where you are in your own wealth building, consider being strategic in your approach to your relationships. ?Try to find people who share your interests, who are very good at what they do, and are willing to work with you. ?

Finally, remember this: there is no such thing as truly passive income. ?Many great economists have noted this. ?Both Marx and Adam Smith said that value is determined partly by the amount of labor invested in a commodity. ?While I?m not a professional economist it?s fair to say that without labor, there isn?t going to be a lot of wealth accumulation happening ? regardless of the economic model you?re invested in. ? So, the bottom line is that to get rich, paying a team to support you in the process is worth every penny.

Best,

James
